Lincolnshire -Church Towers and Minster

As I visited farmers in Lincolnshire I came across two boasts relating to Church buildings. On the Wolds farmers would be keen to take me to a high point on their farm where you could spy the towers of Lincoln minster.
In the Fens farmers would be showing me around the farm when they would stop and point out the number of church towers and spires they could see and claim at no other point in the county, nay the country could as many churches be seen. The number of churches in the Fens should be considered something of a miracle when you consider the following quote from the South Holland Magazine in the 1960's:
"The soil, as may be supposed, is naturally soft, and whatever stone is here found, is brought from a distance; yet as the writer before observed, there is hardly a district in the Kingdom that abounds a greater number of better built churches, they being mostly of hewn stone."
