Mrs Proctor was a well-to-do lady that lived in Welland Hall, a large house now occupied by Ayscoughfee School. Her band was popular at many local events providing a variety of classical and light music and songs with Mrs Proctor herself performing with it. Towards the end of her life in 1901 it is said that the band played her to sleep each night and her servant advised them to stop once she was asleep.
